Understanding Peloton Membership Types and Costs
Peloton offers several different membership options, and understanding which one you have is the first step toward canceling it. The main membership types include the Peloton Digital membership, which provides access to Peloton's workout classes through an app on phones, tablets, or computers; and the All-Access membership, which includes Digital access plus the ability to use Peloton's equipment like the stationary bike or treadmill if you own one.

The All-Access membership typically costs between $42 and $44 per month, depending on your location and any promotions you may have received when you signed up. The Digital-only membership usually runs around $14.99 per month. Some users also have older membership structures if they've been with Peloton for several years, as the company has adjusted its pricing and plan structures multiple times. When you signed up, you may have received an introductory rate that was lower than the standard price, which means your current bill might differ from what new members pay today.
Your billing cycle matters because Peloton typically charges members on the same day each month that they signed up. If you signed up on the 15th of the month, you'll be charged on the 15th of every subsequent month. Understanding when your next charge date is will influence when you should cancel if you want to avoid being charged again. You can find your exact billing date and membership type by logging into your Peloton account online or through the mobile app.
Practical takeaway: Before starting the cancellation process, log into your Peloton account and note your current membership type, monthly cost, and billing date. This information will help you time your cancellation to avoid unnecessary charges and ensure you complete the process correctly.
Locating Your Account Settings and Membership Information
Finding where to cancel your membership within Peloton's system requires navigating to the right section of your account. Peloton has changed its interface several times over the years, but the membership cancellation option is typically found in your account settings, not in the main app navigation. The location differs slightly depending on whether you're accessing Peloton through a web browser, the mobile app, or the equipment itself.

If you're using Peloton's website on a computer, start by logging into your account at www.onepeloton.com. Once logged in, look for an account menu—this is usually found by clicking on your profile icon or name, which is often located in the top right corner of the screen. From there, you should see options like "Account Settings" or "Membership." Click on this option to access your membership details. The page will show your current membership plan, billing information, and payment method on file.
Mobile app users should open the Peloton app and tap on the profile or account icon, typically found at the bottom right of the screen. This will open your profile menu. Look for options labeled "Settings," "Account," or "Membership." Depending on your phone's operating system (iPhone or Android), the exact wording might vary slightly, but the concept is the same. You're looking for any menu item related to your account or subscription details.
If you access Peloton through the bike or treadmill touchscreen, you may be able to view your membership information through the settings menu on the equipment itself, though you typically cannot cancel directly from the machine. The equipment menu usually includes account information that you can reference, but you'll need to use a web browser or mobile app to actually complete the cancellation.
Practical takeaway: Spend a few minutes exploring your account settings through whichever device you use most often to access Peloton. Take screenshots of your membership details and billing information for your records before proceeding with cancellation.
Step-by-Step Cancellation Process
Once you've located your membership information, the actual cancellation process is relatively straightforward, though it may involve several screens or confirmation steps. Peloton typically tries to retain members by offering retention options, so be prepared for the possibility that you'll see alternative offers before you reach the final cancellation confirmation.

On the membership or subscription settings page, look for a button or link that says "Cancel Membership," "Cancel Subscription," or "Pause Membership." Some users report that Peloton offers a "pause" option as an alternative to full cancellation, which temporarily suspends your membership without fully canceling it. If you want to completely end your membership, make sure you select the cancellation option, not the pause option, unless pausing is what you actually want to do.
When you click to cancel, Peloton will likely ask you to confirm your decision and may present you with one or more retention offers. These could include discounted membership rates, a reduced monthly cost for a certain period, or extended trial access to specific features. You are under no obligation to accept these offers. If you want to cancel, simply decline the offer and continue with the cancellation process. Some users find it helpful to read these offers to determine their true cost, but they are optional.
After declining any retention offers, you'll typically be asked to provide a reason for your cancellation. Peloton might ask whether you're canceling due to cost, lack of use, technical issues, or other reasons. This question is optional—you can usually skip it or provide minimal information. Your answer won't prevent your cancellation from going through; it's mainly used by Peloton for internal feedback purposes. You may also see a final confirmation screen asking you to confirm that you understand your membership will end on a specific date. Read this carefully to confirm the cancellation date matches your expectations.
Practical takeaway: When you see retention offers or discount options, take a moment to evaluate them against your actual intended use. If canceling is your goal, don't feel pressured by these offers—you can decline them and proceed with cancellation. Request a confirmation email from Peloton that documents your cancellation, including the date your membership ends.
What Happens After Cancellation and Final Billing
Understanding what occurs after you've completed the cancellation process helps you know what to expect moving forward. When you cancel your Peloton membership, your access typically doesn't end immediately—instead, you retain access through the end of your current billing cycle. This means if you're in the middle of a monthly billing period and you cancel today, you'll still be able to use Peloton's classes and features until your next billing date arrives.

For example, if your billing date is the 15th of the month and you cancel on the 3rd, you would retain full access until the 15th. On the 15th, you would receive a final charge for that last month of service, and then your account would be deactivated. You would no longer be able to log into Peloton or access any classes after that date. This is why checking your billing date before cancellation is important—you can time your cancellation to minimize the number of days you're paying for a membership you won't use.
Some users choose to cancel strategically to reduce wasted subscription costs. For instance, if your billing date is the 1st of the month and you cancel on the 30th, you'll only have one or two days left on that billing cycle before it ends, meaning you won't be charged again. Conversely, if you cancel on the 2nd, you'd be paying for nearly a full month you won't use. However, if you're still using the service regularly during that period, it makes sense to continue access through your next billing date rather than rushing to cancel immediately.
After your final billing date passes, your Peloton account will remain in a deactivated state. You can sometimes view historical data, achievements, and workout history by logging back in, depending on Peloton's current policies, but you won't be able to access new classes or features. If you later decide you want to rejoin Peloton, you would be treated as a new member and may be subject to any current promotions or pricing structures at that time.
Practical takeaway: Note the exact date your final billing charge will occur and plan to check your bank or credit card statement around that date to confirm the charge went through as expected. Keep any cancellation confirmation email Peloton sends you, along with documentation of your account status for at least a few months after cancellation.
Handling Potential Issues and Confirmation
